• Strength of a U.S. Underwriter. HTH insists on partnering with admitted U.S. carriers. Our travel medical plans are underwritten by UNICARE Life & Health Insurance Company, a WellPoint Health Networks company. Wellpoint is one of the nation's largest health insurance companies. Our trip protection plans are underwritten by Stonebridge Casualty insurance Company and Monumental General Casualty Company, owned by AEGON. AEGON is one of the largest property and casualty companies in the world.
• Better Coverage. HTH's plans have met the standards of state regulators and feature coverage more generous than plans sold as "excess coverage" by non-admitted insurers. For example, HTH's plans exclude coverage for conditions that existed 180 days prior to the purchase of the plan (this exclusion is waived on TravelGap Multi trip and can be waived on TripProtector plans if you buy within 14 days of your initial trip deposit). Non-admitted plans often exclude coverage for conditions that existed within 3 or even 5 years before the purchase. Our plans do not exclude illnesses or injuries resulting from a terrorist act: a standard exclusion on competing plans.
• More Affordable. HTH's trip protection plans are more reasonably priced than other policies. Our travel medical prices are based on your number of travel days. Other travel medical plans force you to buy coverage in 15-day increments. We allow you to buy what you need and save (7 day minimum applies).
